The summer school on Gender, Disasters and Climate Risk took place last week at Lund University, gathering 15 professionals and doctoral students from eight different countries for a weeklong visit at the Division of Risk Management and Societal Safety, LTH.

Misse Wester, professor and course leader for the summer school and was most pleased with this year’s course, saying it was a good mix between professionals in the field, and future researchers in the field of disaster and gender:

Both groups shared their knowledge and experiences from their fields, leading to fruitful and energizing discussions. We are grateful for the participants contribution and hope to stay connected!

The summer school is a recurring event, organized by the Division of Risk Management and Societal Safety, with generous support from SASNET since 2018. It brings together doctoral students and professionals in the fields of climate, disaster, and gender studies to combine theoretical perspectives with insights from the professional field.
