South Asian Studies: Never More Relevant
Home to one quarter of the earth’s population and the world’s fastest growing major economy. 5,000 years of rich, extraordinary history, and yet a spawning ground of global unrest. Much of the world’s promise and many of its problems are deeply rooted in the landscape of South Asia. There has never been a more important time than now to focus upon and assess South Asia and its place in the world.
The South Asian Studies Association (SASA), the US-based alliance of international university scholars, will meet at Claremont McKenna College, from Friday March 24 to Sunday March 26, 2017. SASA conferences feature presenters and participants from across the US and around the globe who come to learn, share knowledge and experience, network with colleagues, and enjoy our traditionally relaxed and still stimulating environment. In addition to multiple thought-provoking panels and plenary sessions, SASA Conference registration includes multiple networking opportunities, two luncheons, and our always memorable Saturday evening Awards’ Banquet. SASA 2017 already promises to be our best and most robust Conference to date.
Call for Papers
SASA Conferences are dedicated to advancing understanding of South Asia’s diverse cultures, histories, issues and opportunities. We welcome and encourage papers and presentations that address the rich tapestry that is South Asia’s past, present, and future, and from across disciplines…history, cultural studies, political science and government, the arts, economics, philosophy, religious studies, and more.
