The conference "Modes of authority and aesthetics practices from South Asia to Southeast Asia" will be held 23-25 May 2018 at Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris, France. Submit abstract by September 30th 2017.

The Conference intends to think comparatively about the relationship between aesthetic phenomena and authority in a region, South and Southeast Asia, where the aesthetic dimension plays a particularly important role in the legitimation strategies of different types of authority, be they religious, political or artistic, and where the diversity of societies range from stateless communities to kingdoms and sultanates via various models of states. Submit abstract by September 30th 2017.
