Isha Dubey graduated with a PhD in History from the School of Culture and Society at Aarhus University in October 2017 for her doctoral dissertation, The Urdu-speakers of Bangladesh and the Idea of ‘Home’: Migration, Displacement and Shifting Narratives of Belonging Since the 1940s. Post her PhD, Isha has taught at the Department of Global Studies, Aarhus University. Before coming to Denmark for her doctoral studies, Dr. Dubey obtained her MA and MPhil degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University and the University of Delhi respectively. Her work is guided by an overarching interest in histories of migration and nationalism, communalism and communal violence in South Asia and diaspora and memory studies. During her time at Lund University and SASNET as a post-doctoral researcher, Isha shall primarily be working on her project Memory, Memorialization and the Politics of Forgetting: ‘Difficult Heritage’ and the construction and contestation of ‘national memory’ in India and Bangladesh.
