SASNET at Almedalen: The Indian elections - How will they affect India, Asia and Sweden?
India's contribution to global economic growth is already significant and is expected to increase. The country is increasingly active on the world political stage and its relations with neighbouring countries affect the security of the entire region. During its last term, India's poverty speech has continued to decline, its economy is growing and the modernisation of its administration has begun. At the same time, unemployment is rising, the gap between rich and poor remains high and intolerance of the country's minorities has increased.
These current issues and the importance of India in current international politics, specifically with regards to the recent election outcomes will be discussed in a panel discussion hosted by SASNET in collaboration with the Swedish Institute of Foreign Affairs (UI).
