The workshop started with a keynote lecture by Professor Knut Jacobsen from the University of Bergen. His lecture was entitled “Ancient Yoga in the Modern World” and was based on his latest book Yoga in Modern India.
SASNET director, Andreas Johansson, chaired a panel session that included, among others, a paper by Dan Vesalainen Hirslund from the University of Copenhagen entitled “Hierarchies and Solidarities of Urban Labor: Subcontracting, Informalisation and Brokerage in Kathmandu”.
On the second day SASNET teaching assistant Soumi Banerjee presented her Master’s thesis in a presentation entitled “Beyond the Crisis of Identity: (De)constructing ‘Self’ and ‘Other’ in the Narratives of Partition of India”.
Next year’s meeting will be held in Sweden. More information will be released later this year.
