Historical time and space in focus for 2016 Asian Dynamics Initiative Conference

The Asian Dynamics Initiative at University of Copenhagen announces its 8th annual international ADI conference to be held 20-22 June 2016.

The theme for the 2016 ADI conference will be Asia across historical time and space in a global context. It will take place over three days and feature distinguished keynote speakers as well as interdisciplinary panels. Confirmed keynote speakers include Kenneth Pomeranz, University of Chicago and Tansen Sen, City University New York (CUNY) and NYU Shanghai Campus. Some of the panels are convened by scholars working on South Asia. Dan Hirslund, Rune Bennike and Luisa Steur organises a panel on Ethnographies of Capitalist Transformation across Asia, and Ravinder Kaur convenes a panel entitled Life of the Image. Finally, there is a panel with a direct South Asia focus, on Civil Society in South Asia – a comparative approachexamining change in civil society over the years and changes in actors and structures in civil society in South Asia. The deadline for submitting paper proposals was 1 March 2016. More information.
