Fourth Conference on Bengal Related Studies for Young Scholars in Halle

The Fourth Conference on Bengal Related Studies for Students and Young Scholars will be held in Halle (Saale), Germany, 28-30 October 2016.

It is being organised by the South Asia Seminar of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. The aim of the conference is to provide an interdisciplinary venue for students and young scholars who focus on the Bengal regions in their studies. Guests are very welcome. There will be no conference fee, but those interested in participating as guests are requested to contact the local organisers by email first. Contact: brsc [at] suedasien [dot] uni-halle [dot] de (brsc[at]suedasien[dot]uni-halle[dot]de). Venue: Ludwig-Wucherer-Str. 2 in Halle (Saale). The conference committee consists of Stefanie Beine, Carmen Brandt, Kirsten Hackenbroch, Ludwig Merker, Paul Rupschus, Franziska Strich, and Boris Wille. A large number of highly interesting papers will be presented, amomg them two contributions by Scandinavia-based researchers, namely Tiyasha Sengupta from Syddansk Universitet in Odense, presenting a aper on ”The Indian Bengali: Exploring Identity through a Critical Discourse Analytical Approach to Narayan Debanath’s “Bā̃ṭul the Great”; and Isha Dubey from Aarhus University, presemting a paper on ”Incipient Bengali Nationalism and Muhajirs in East Pakistan: 1948-1955”. Go for the full programme.
