The theme of the workshop is ”Transformations of ‘the Political’” and the themes discussed will be: - State and Governance; - Politics of knowledge production, - Political performance, - Development and Dissent; - Labouring Lives and the Politics of Labour; and - Contested cultures. It is organised by the Centre for Modern Indian Studies (CeMIS) at Georg-August University. Since 2010, Y-SASM has aimed to provide a platform for interdisciplinary exchange among junior scholars in the field of South Asian Studies, including PhD students, advanced MA/MPhil students, early career Post-Docs and non-tenured faculty staff. Last year, the Y-SASM Workshop was held in Zurich, Switzerland. ”Rethinking Inequality in South Asia”. The workshop was organized jointly by the chair for the History of the Modern World (GMW) at ETH and the Centre for Modern Indian Studies (CeMIS), University of Göttingen. 17 participants from European universities and from South Asia joined the workshop.
