Collaboration with South Asia

For several years, the Medical Programme at Uppsala University has been involved in an exchange project with the Christian Medical College in Vellore, India, through the Linnaeus Palme International Exchange programme. The project involves an exchange of students and teachers for a period of 12-14 weeks. Previously the Swedish coordinator was Associate Professor Carin Muhr at the Dept. of Neuroscience, Uppsala University, but the programme is now coordinated by Dr. Tomas Borg at the Section for Orthopaedics, Dept. of Surgical Sciences (and chairman of the International Committee at the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy, Uppsala University).
For the period 1 July 2009 – 30 June 2010, two students and two teachers will be sent both ways. Mostly the Swedish students go for a course in Surgery at Vellore, whereas the Indian students do practical clinical training in Medicine and Surgery at Uppsala University.
