History of Sangam:
Sangam is a dance group that was founded by three eager Indology students at Stockholm University in Sweden. They choose the name to illustrate the Sangam, the meeting of the river goddesses Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati in northern India. They also liked the old Hindi movie with the same title. The group members used to watch Bollywood films at Hindi classes and write reports on them, as home assignments, and they absolutely adored the heroes, heroines and most of all, the dance numbers.
Later they went to India for a course in intermediate Hindi, spent some time in Bombay and came across some Bollywood talent scouts. They got set up on a shooting right in film city, and met Mr Amitabh Bachchan and the lovely Miss Rani Mukherjee. Later they even starred in a dance number of a big Bollywood film.
Stunned and overwhelmed by this experience they went back to Stockholm University and did their first performance in Sweden, in the fall of 2005. It was the song Bole Chudiyan, originally starring Kareena Kapoor, for the movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. This unique performance paved the way for numerous shows and great success for Sangam.
They teach dance classes, workshops, bachelorette parties, wedding performances, birthday parties and graduation parties. They enjoy the sweet tunes of Bollywood and are often told that they bring a lot of positive energy to the audience. The Sangam girls simply love Bollywood and perform with a coordinated dance in true Bollywood style. Their passion for dance is beyond all limits.
