The Department aims to not only complement the IT focus of the university but also develop a strong faculty with dynamic teaching skills (especially using IT resources) and a robust research profile. The Department works closely with the Centre for Governance and Policy which spearheads the university's intervention in the policy arena, and faculty members will be expected to participate in its activities.
The course load is 1-1, (mainly undergraduate, but a postgraduate programme will soon commence) and a generous research and travel allowance is given to facilitate research. Salary is also very competitive. The Department hopes to hire in all disciplines in the humanities and social sciences but is keen to hire in Anthropology/Sociology, Economics, Governance and Public Policy, History, South Asian literature, English Literature and Linguistics. Recent PhD's with an active research profile are encouraged to apply. Appointments will be at the Assistant Professor level, though higher appointments can be considered.
